"Voting is Activism" Directed by Caralene Robinson Executive Produced by Run&Shoot Filmworks, Inc. 2020 has been a wake-up call, and the average American has much to consider. The recent climate has many Americans asking “How can I make a difference?”. There are a myriad of global, national or domestic issues. There innumerable lanes of advocacy including social justice, climate change, prison reform or children’s rights. To make matters even more complicated, the contentious upcoming election adds a layer of urgency (and potentially confusion) to decisions of support. Because the majority of media outlets focus on the national election, many Americans may be missing the connection between advocacy and local impact. It is crucial to showcase how voting influences policy at the local level, and should be considered (along with other actions) a form of advocacy to create change. “Voting is Activism” will connect the act of voting with local change. While many may only believe voting is relevant nationally, this PSA will showcase the impact of voting at the local level. “Voting is Activism” is a local, interview style campaign featuring social influencers. The goal is to showcase voting as a form of advocacy. Specifically, each influencer will speak to the importance of how voting can impact their respective neighborhoods. The primary discussion will focus on below the national level. Areas of discussion will include elections and appointments at the local level (e.g. city council) and policy (e.g. business, zoning, community).
